Last year I’ve noticed a tweet posted by Sendinblue, a company offering cloud-based digital marketing tools, about some new features they offer as well as their Sendinblue vs MailChimp comparison. Although I waited until this year to publish my blog post (sounds weird) about these new features, in fact, it’s not been a long time, only 4 days.
Sendinblue vs MailChimp
Truth be told, when I visit a website for the first time, I usually scroll down from top to bottom in a matter of couple seconds, expecting my eyes to catch miraculously something interesting, and my eyes actually did it – Sendinblue vs Mailchimp. That’s what brought me to write this post.
I’m using Mailchimp for a couple of years now. Not intensely but fairly often, I’ve got very used to it. Mailchimp is very easy to use newsletter service and my intention is to continue to use it. I’ve also managed a couple of Mailchimp accounts for my customers who started these on my own suggestion. Truth, some users may simply not be too demanding and their requirements may be aligned with almost any newsletter service, but that’s a subject for another day.
As it was the time to install a newsletter signup form on TECHIEPEP.com, the earlier mentioned tweet showed up to me at the perfect time. In addition, when I saw how Sendinblue compares to Mailchimp, I was convinced to give it a try. The fact that it cost less should not always be the deciding factor, however, it raises both eyebrows. We just don’t like paying more or get less.
My free account with Sendinblue was quickly set up and verified (email and SMS verification). I’ve spent a couple of minutes exploring the environment, my personal opinion, a clean and user-friendly design. Then I installed and activated the Sendinblue WordPress plugin, tested, it works, end of the story.
Comparing Sendinblue new newsletter features with MailChimp “we have it” already features
Chat
Talk with your website visitors in real-time. Nice looking feature to enhance the experience for your website visitors. It comes only within your Premium (paid subscription) plan. No matter how customizable it is and what level of integration it has with the newsletter, it is actually a little bit disappointing for newsletters starters. This new feature alone will not make them want to try Sendinblue, there are some respectable website chat applications for free, such as Tidio, that also can be integrated with MailChimp.
CRM
Centralize all of your contact information and allows you to manage your team and track every customer interaction. Available with the free pan. This feature is also available with MailChimp as Audience.
Retargeting
As a feature Retargeting is not for the most part of beginners. There is some sense in the fact that this feature is included only in the Premium (paid subscription) plan. It allows you to bring shoppers back to your website with ads displayed on websites they visit. MailChimp offers this feature as well, starting with its Standard (paid subscription) plan.
Facebook Ads
A new type of ad campaign, allows you to launch Facebook ads directly from inside your Sendinblue account, included only in the Premium (paid subscription) plan. MailChimp offers the same feature with the free plan.
Multi-User
Delegate access to their accounts to multiple additional users. This feature is primarily intended for marketing agencies or when separate access accounts are required. Sendinblue offers this feature, starting with (paid subscription) plan, whereas with MailChimp you actually have to create what they call Agency Account, paid of course.
Comparing Sendinblue vs Mailchimp free plans
If you are new to newsletter services or just want to switch to another platform with a free plan. The Sendinblue vs Mailchimp free plan comparison may be interesting to you.
Sendinblue free plan includes an unlimited number of contacts (email recipients) but you are limited to the number of 300 sends per day, in total a maximum of 9,300 sends per month. These numbers may seem low, however, I believe the majority of users do not need more for a start. Especially if their email list is based on their existing customers.
MailChimp free plan includes up to 2,000 contacts and 10,000 sends per month, with a daily send limit of 2,000. Although it seems like an advantage over the Sendinblue, you should not base your decision on whether to use one or the other just on these numbers.
What are your newsletter requirements?
If you really know your newsletter requirements from inside out and you are comparing the above two services, pay more attention to features you really need and how you can benefit more in order to build up your newsletter list, which eventually will lead you to sell more. The right choice will help you grow and you’ll not regret it when the day comes to upgrade your plan.
